Get this look for less – Jennifer Lopez’s gold plated Gucci Aviators

Jennifer Lopez in Gucci Aviators for her video I Luh Ya Papi

Her “love don’t cost a thing” and don’t be fooled  by the rocks (or in this case, her gold Gucci aviators) that she’s got, she’s still “Jenny from the block.”

We love J.Lo and her sassy, sexy and not to mention expensive taste but that doesn’t mean we’re ready to drop $1,195 for a pair of Gucci sunglasses that might end up behind a friend’s couch or accidentally on top of our car while running errands (trust us, it’s happened). These reasons are why we can’t justify spending that much on a pair of shades.

So what is a girl to do when she craves a pair of gold sunnies like the ones La Lopez was spotted wearing in her I Luh Ya Papi music video? She heads over to her local Forever 21 (The Grove, L.A.) and scores a “look for less” for the awesome price of $4.99. A good bargain really never gets old.

Fashion’s biggest night took over New York City last night. The venue was the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the theme was dark, edgy and rebellious. Simply put, it was punk. Anna Wintour hosted the event with actress Rooney Mara who brought her  best version of punk to the big screen in the english speaking version of “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”. The event’s other co-chair was socialite and Vogue contributing editor, Lauren Santo Domingo. The punk themed event apparently caused a frenzy amongst stylists and stars alike as many wondered how they would mix this very specific style with the glamour that the red carpet requires. As stars from the entertainment, fashion and sports world congregated on the famed Metropolitan stairs, the one question on everyone’s mind as always was “who are you wearing?”. Here’s a breakdown of the night’s most daring looks.

They say behind every great man, there’s a great woman; well behind every Hollywood star, there’s an uber stylish stylist. The Hollywood Reporter has once again released its annual Stylists issue. For the third year in a row, the issue showcases the artists behind your favorite stars and their red carpet looks. As every celebrity knows, the red carpet these days can either make or break you. Have a fashion “moment” as Kerry Washington and her stylist Erin Walsh call it, and you’ll find your face planted on every best dressed list. Have a miss, and well, you know the rest.

Grammy Awards 2013 Red Carpet Fashion – The trends, who wore it best and the looks that bombed

Grammy 2013 Fashion - Rihanna stunned while J.Lo unfortunately disappointed

Grammy 2013 Fashion – Rihanna stunned while J.Lo unfortunately disappointed

The Grammy Awards can always be counted on to bring the weird, the wacky and definitely the inappropriate on the red carpet. A look back at Jennifer Lopez’s infamous Versace number and Lady Gaga’s meat dress is all we need as a mental jog. This year,  CBS sent out a letter ahead of music’s biggest night appealing to the stars to be on their best behavior when it comes to fashion. In a letter leaked to several media outlets, CBS’ Standards and Practices department urged the presenters and performers on Sunday night  to ”Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered”. The letter also stated, ”Thong type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack…Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic. Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples. Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible ‘puffy’ bare skin exposure.”

On that note, let’s see if any of the night’s biggest names adhered to the rules. Here are all the hits and misses of the night.

With the summer season slowly coming to an end and the fall season creeping in, it’s interesting to see the mix of looks trending during this in between season on the red carpet. Electric blue was the go-to color this past week with stars like Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Alba and Kirsten Dunst making statements in this bold hue. Red was also a hot trend and so was lace and laser cut leather. While stars like Twilight’s Ashley Greene chose bright colors to help them stand out, bold print continued to reign supreme with Gwyneth Paltrow, Nina Dobrev, Zooey Deschanel and Maria Sharapova opting to show off in everything from batik to floral and polka dot prints.
