The season of celebrating the highest achievements in film continued this weekend with the Screen Actors Guild Awards. As usual, we have all the red carpet trends as well as the best looks in tow. If black was the color of the 2013 Golden Globes, navy blue was the color of the SAG Awards. Other stand out beauties of the night include Jennifer Garner in gold Oscar de la Renta and Jessica Chastain in red hot Alexander McQueen. While a lot of the stars played it safe on the carpet, the “risk-taker” award of the night would have to go to Mad Men’s January Jones, The Good Wife’s Julianna Margulies and Homeland’s Claire Danes for their bold black and white looks. 2013 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet – The night’s biggest trends plus the good, bad and unimpressive
The Golden Globe Awards descended upon the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills once again this year for its 70th year. Celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Adele, Anne Hathaway, Claire Danes, Halle Berry, Kerry Washington and many more stepped out in Couture and diamonds to celebrate this past year’s achievements in film and television. As usual, we have the night’s biggest trends, plus the best and worst looks of the night. Black was the night’s number one color with stars like Salma Hayek and Sofia Vergara draping their famous curves in pieces by Gucci and other big name designers. Red also made a prominent showing on the carpet while pastel colors and nudes showed that they’re here to stay thanks to dresses worn by Jennifer Lopez, Amy Adams, Hayden Panettiere and Amanda Seyfried. With all the serious hits also came some devastating misses. Olympic Medalist Gabby Douglas made a wrong turn with her Golden Globes debut by sporting a “too grown up” sequin number. Usual red carpet stunner Halle Berry was also an unfortunate miss. Her Versace gown had too much print going on and left very little to the imagination. Here’s a complete breakdown of the night’s looks.
Pretty Pastels

Amy Adams looked stunning in blush Marchesa and almost half a million worth of Tiffany & Co. jewels.

Megan Fox opted for nude lace in Dolce and Gabbana.

Kaley Cuoco also went with nude.

Jessica Alba in Oscar de la Renta and Harry Winston jewels.

Kristen Bell glowed in lavender.

Jessica Chastain in powder blue Calvin Klein.

Rosario Dawson also sported powder blue.
Shades of Blue

Sally Field was the epitome of elegance in navy blue.

Glenn Close also looked elegant in a navy blue tafetta gown.

Helen Mirren looked stunning in a navy blue gown with gold accents.

Jodi Foster opted for a blue sequin halter.
Not so impressive

Morena Baccarin’s navy and black pleated number did nothing for the actress. Her retro curls on the other hand framed her face beautifully.

Julie Bowen’s one shouldered dress was also a miss.
Basic Black

Eva Longoria in Emilio Pucci.

Katherine McPhee in Oliver Theyskens’ Theory.

Salma Hayek in Gucci Première.

Sofia Vergara sparkled in black.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was also in black.

Sarah Hyland and costar Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

Kate Hudson in Alexander McQueen.

Emily Deschanel in an embellished cap sleeved black gown.

Julianne Moore went with a black dress with white panels.

Girls’ star Zosia Mamet took a risk in a black dress with leather panels.
Not so impressive

Rachel Weisz’s sheer polka dot skirt looked missplaced.

Nicole Kidman’s sheer polka dot and stripes midriff panel was also a bit off.

Debra Messing was a miss with her over-ruched and therefore over-voluminous black number.

Funny lady Kristin Wiig’s black dress with a stomach cutout was a huge miss.
Lace Queens

Julianna Margulies in Emilio Pucci.

Julia Louis Dreyfus also opted for a dress with a lace underlay.
Winter White

Heidi Klum in a one shouldered white gown with thigh high slit.

Michelle Dockery in Alexandre Vauthier.

Anne Hathaway went the minimalist route in a white column gown.
Not so impressive

Julianne Hough’s overly embellished gown lacked elegance and style.
Red Hot

Zooey Deschanel in Oscar de la Renta.

Jennifer Lawrence cinched her waist in red.

Claire Danes in Versace.

Jennifer Garner in Vivienne Westwood Couture.

Naomi Watts also opted for red.
Misses in Color

Alyssa Milano sported a gorgeous marigold color but the horrible fit of this dress doomed the whole look.

Gabby Douglas’ “too grown up” look was also a complete miss.

Marion Cotillard stepped out in gorgeous orange but her slanted hemline was a miss.
Print gone wrong

Halle Berry in Versace – Halle Berry can usually do no wrong in the fashion department but this printed mess with a weird side cut out and side slit is a big miss for the actress. Too much skin and too much print is never a good combo.

We love Lucy Liu for stepping out of the box but her attempt at a floral print ball gown fell flat.
All that Glitters

Thandie Newton shined in a sparkling lavender mini.

Connie Britton in a strapless sequin gown.

Lea Michele also sparkled in a beaded Elie Saab number.

Emily Mortimer went for a sequin silver gown.
The Boys

Bradley Cooper

Eddie Redmayne
Other Notable Looks

Taylor Swift was all grown up in plum Donna Karan Atelier.

Trend Spotting – Tuxedo inspired looks
There are so many chic items to borrow from the boys. From boyfriend watches to boyfriend jeans, over-sized shirts to ties and suspenders, we’ve taken so many of these items and put our lady-like stamps on them. One stand out “borrowed look” of the summer has been the tuxedo-inspired look and boy do we wear it well. Below, fashion forward stars like Diane Kruger, Camilla Belle and Kirsten Dunst showcase this very hot trend.
What do you think of the tuxedo inspired looks on these fashionable ladies? Would you wear this trend?
Spring trend alert: Polka dot tights are popping up everywhere
It’s that time of year again. Winter is slowly packing up its stylish but heavy bags and making way for the lightness of spring. To celebrate this transition, we’re kicking off a whole week dedicated to spring’s hottest trends. From the runways to your favorite celebrities, you’ll see what’s in store for Spring Fashion 2011 and how you can incorporate these trends into your wardrobe. Today, we’re starting off with the adorable polka-dot tights trend. Since most of the country is still experiencing cooler weather, this is a perfect way to bring some spring fun into your wardrobe now, while still being weather appropriate.

Anne Hathaway complements her sleeveless ruffled white top and pencil skirt with some polka dot tights
Another bit of good news is that this fun, whimsical and feminine piece is sticking around for more than one season…it was all over the Fall 2011 runways at New York Fashion week.
What do you think of this trend? HOT or NOT?
2011 Oscars Red Carpet – The trends, the couture and the stars who wore it best
The Awards show season ended on high note at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. Stars came out in full force in their best couture and once again we’re breaking down all the red carpet action. Scroll down for a complete look at the night’s biggest trends and best dressed.
Scarlet Beauties…
There’s no doubt red played the headlining role on the carpet. Everyone from Host, Anne Hathaway to Best Actress Nominee Jennifer Lawrence and last year’s Best Actress Winner Sandra Bullock turned up the heat in this color.
Going nude…
Stars continued to show their love for the “nude” trend which was all over the red carpet this award season. It’s a soft feminine look that works beautifully on almost every skin tone.

True Grit's Hailee Steinfeld looked like a modern day princess in her age appropriate custom Marchesa gown. Kudos to the young actress for her fashion choices this awards season.
If all else fails, go with white…
The red carpet always has it’s “white moments” and the Oscar’s carpet was no exception.

Reese Witherspoon color blocked with a little white and a lot of black in a retro chic Giorgio Armani Privé and matching retro updo
Minimalist and Metallic…
The minimalist trend was huge for fall and we saw a lot of it at the Golden Globes this year, the same goes for the metallic trend. Both Celine Dion and Gwyneth Paltrow carried on the torch.
All shades of Purple…
A pleasant surprise of the night was the many shades of the color purple on the carpet. From lilac to plum, there were so many beautiful dresses that spanned the spectrum of this gorgeous color.

Cate Blanchett shows off her unpredictable yet always fitting sense of style in a lilac Givenchy Haute Couture gown with beaded accents and a pleated skirt

Finally! Natalie Portman looked absolutely beautiful in this violet Rodarte off the shoulder gown. Sometimes it pays to stick with what you know works and her collaboration with the Mulleavy sisters of Rodarte always works. The dress flows beautifully and compliments the pregnant star's current physique. Her retro curls finish off her look perfectly.
Other notables…

Best Supprting Actress Nominee Amy Adams in a cap sleeved, sequined L'Wren Scott and Emerald Cartier Jewels. The jewelry set would have been better suited for another dress. The color unfortunately clashes with her dress and the necklace doesn't work with her dress' neckline either. Elegantly cut diamond drop earrings would have made the perfect accessories here.
Until next year….

Golden Globes 2011 Red Carpet Breakdown : The good, the bad and the unimpressive
Nudes, pastels, sequins and emerald green ruled the red carpet at Sunday’s 2011 Golden Globe Awards. While some Stars shone, other heavy hitters like Halle Berry, Julianne Moore and Nicole Kidman didn’t fare so well. Here’s the low down on the good, the bad and unfortunately, the not so impressive…
Nudes…
Matching your skin tone has been one of the biggest trends of the season and the carpet was swarming with gowns featuring this trend. Everyone from Scarlett Johannson to Sandra Bullock, Glee’s Diana Argon and Michelle Williams took a bite out of the “nude” apple.

Scarlett Johansson channeled old hollywood glamour in a flutter sleeved Elie Saab with floral appliqué.

Sandra Bullock showed off an edgier look with her blunt bangs but softened things up in an embellished Jenny Packham dress.
Not so impressive in this hue…

Nominated for her movie Blue Valentine, Michelle Williams tried to match her 60s hair cut in this Valentino gown with floral embellishments. Unfortunately, it was just a bit underwhelming for this event.
Sequins…
A-list Stars took a cue from the disco era trend taking over the runways and glittered on the carpet.
Unfortunately, even sequins couldn’t save these Stars…

Nicole Kidman failed to impress in this one shouldered, belted Prada gown, accessorized with a brooch.
Green with envy…
Emerald green was the color of goddesses on the carpet.

Elizabeth Moss also dipped her toe in the night's hottest hue but this ill-fitting Donna Karan frock did the talented actress zero justice.
Bringing more color to the stylish carpet were some super stylish ladies…

January Jones recovered from last year's Versace Emmy bomb with another Versace (fringed), retro curls and matching lips.

Red head du jour Christina Hendricks matched her hair and showed off her killer curves in a one shoulder, body hugging Romona Kaveza.

A pleasant surprise on the carpet was The Closer's Kyra Sedgwick who stood out in a bold, marigold Emilio Pucci.
On a lighter note…
Nominees Claire Danes and Emma Stone both went the minimalist route in pastel colored Calvin Klein numbers. Megan Fox, Lea Michele and Best Actress Nominee, Natalie Portman also went the light pink route.

Claire Danes who won the Best Actress statue for her HBO movie "Temple Grandin" looked elegant in her custom Calvin Klein gown.

While Glee's Lea Michele donned another Oscar de la Renta - It would be nice to see her switch it up a little bit from her usual taffeta choices.
Two ladies who failed to impress in Pink, Best Supporting Actress nominee Julianne Moore and Best Actress Nominee, Natalie Portman.

While Natalie Portman's Victor + Rolf gown did nothing for the expectant mom. There's no excuse for that flower plus there are so many amazing designers that have beautifully outfitted pregnant Stars...Sarah Jessica Parker in Narciso Rodriguez anyone?

Pregnancy flashback: Sarah Jessica Parker looked beautiful and stylish at 7 months in 2002 wearing a gorgeous pink, Narciso Rodriguez babydoll dress.
It wouldn’t be the Globes without the prerequisite black…

Piper Parabo could have done better than this boring black dress with a shoulder bow, which just seemed oddly sized and placed. As Charlize Theron showed us in her John Galliano for Dior number in 2006, either go big or go home.
Another hot mess…

Halle Berry who's usually flawless, bombed in this black corseted Nina Ricci gown. It was a bad mixture of a cliché undergarment / nightgown with a weirdly cut sheer train.
On to the Oscars….
