Christian Louboutin ballet heels on display at The Shoes for Show exhibition in east London
Christian Louboutin is a master when it comes to the art of shoes. His red soles are recognizable every where and have graced the feet of celebrities, royals and fashionistas alike. It’s no surprise then, that a man who’s been in his field for so long has to push the limits and challenge how far women will go for the love of fashion. On the ‘heels’ of such gravity defying creations like the Alexander McQueen Armadillo platforms (as seen on Lady Gaga, Kelis and Beyonce) as well as the Heel-less Antonio Berardi PVC boots sported by Victoria Beckham, the king of shoes has designed a pair of heels that even the bravest and style-obsessed fashion divas would think twice about.

So what’s Louboutin’s reasoning behind creating these? The French designer who views “the classical dancing ballet slipper <as> the ultimate heel” told The Sun he wanted to create “heels that <would make> dancers closer than any other women to the sky, to heaven”. Yes, these heels look like they could definitely land you in another dimension. All jokes aside however, The Swarovski crystals embellished slippers were designed to raise money for the English National Ballet and they will probably be bought as a display and not for every day wear or for any special occasions for that matter. Share your thoughts on the 8-inch Louboutins below….When it comes to heels, how high do you feel comfortable going?
Jennifer Love Hewitt is gorgeous in green
Jennifer Love Hewitt seems like a sweet girl, a sweet girl who seriously loves Hervé Léger bandage style dresses and by ‘seriously loves’, we really mean ‘seriously loves’ – A LOT. Over the past two years, the actress has shown up in every version of the bandage dress created by designer Max Azria for the Hervé Léger line. If you don’t believe it, scroll down below. Selena Gomez vs. Model in a Marchesa Cream embroidered organza flare long sleeve top
This week’s battle of who wore it best is over a gorgeous embroidered Marchesa top. Filled with exquisite details and channeling the ballet meets high glamour, this piece is not easy to pull off. Selena Gomez stepped out at MTV’s European Music Awards sporting the Marchesa creation with a tousled do, silver peep-toes, a red box clutch and no pants, looking slightly overwhelmed.

Her version has also been modified from the original which featured more tulle on the sleeves and on the neck giving it a much more Victorian feel. Kudos to Selena for stepping out of her comfort zone but I’m giving the model the crown on this one. In addition to making the mistake of wearing this top as a dress, what we have here is an unfortunate case of the dress wearing the owner and her stylist should have known better. The top is dramatic enough and didn’t need her overwhelming waves to compete with. Her hair should have been pulled back to bring focus to the stunning cut of the top’s high neck.

I also love the contrast created by the leather pants on the model. Bringing a sleek and modern element to the look continues to play on the edginess that the top is going for while maintaining a clean balance between the top and bottom. Who do you think won this battle? Selena or the model? Share your thoughts below…

As awards season approaches, this trend will no doubt be prominent on the red carpet and stars like Jessica Biel, Freida Pinto, Emma Stone and many others have already gotten a head start on the trend.
