Look of the day – Kate Bosworth dares to bare in an edgy Proenza Schouler look
Actress, Kate Bosworth has shown us over the past few years that when it comes to fashion, she’s not afraid to take a risk. Case in point, this Proenza Schouler ensemble from the designer’s spring 2012 collection.
The look: She pairs her neon and animal print cropped top with a belted high-waisted skirt and black wedges.
The event: A lunch celebrating The 2011 CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund Finalists in Los Angeles.
The verdict: This is a very risky look but I think she pulls it off well. It’s young and edgy and works well with her physique. In the age of cookie-cutter Hollywood style, it’s refreshing to see Kate marching to the beat of her own drum and carrying that beat with confidence.
What do you think of Kate’s look? Hot or Not? Share your thoughts below…
Look of the day – Lucy Liu goes bold in Giambattista Valli
Who knew she was multi-talented? Lucy Liu took a risk with a bold shouldered Giambattista Valli print dress at the launch of her book “Lucy Liu: Seventy Two”in New York City. The book features 72 abstract ink and acrylic paintings created by the actress. She added a pop of color to her black and white dress with a turquoise clutch by Tory Burch. What do you think of Lucy’s look? Did her risk pay off?
Trend Spotting – The allure of the Peter Pan collar + tips to make this trend your own
There’s nothing immature about the latest trend gaining speed in fall fashion. The Peter Pan collar is a mix of ladylike qualities and youthful independence. It’s slightly delicate and playful at the same time. Hollywood of course is front and center with this trend. From the runways of Louis Vuitton to the red carpet and magazine covers, Stars can’t seem to get enough. Here are some stand out looks featuring the Peter Pan collar.
Test driving the trend: The Peter Pan collar happens to be one of my favorite features on a jacket. I’m a huge fan of 50s and 60s style jackets and have found over the years that I’ve acquired quite a few pieces with the Peter Pan collar. It’s allure to me is that it’s delicate, structured and ladylike all at once.
Style Tip: A jacket with a Peter Pan collar can be buttoned up or even played up with a scarf tied into a bow. In the past, I’ve paired the light wool jacket I’m wearing above with skinny jeans and over-the-knee boots as well as with a pencil skirt. I love that it’s that versatile.
What do you think of the Peter Pan collar? Would you wear it?

Who wore it best? Three Stars take on one look (Kate Moss vs. Fergie vs. Gwyneth Paltrow)
The battle: Today’s edition of ‘Who wore it best?‘ features 3 heavyweights lightweights from the worlds of fashion, music and acting. Kate Moss, Fergie and Gwyneth Paltrow are all sporting one of fall’s biggest trends — the Peter Pan collar.
The brand: Louis Vuitton
Who: Kate Moss strutted down the Louis Vuitton runway in the look; Fergie partied in the same look at the AmfAR Inspiration Gala in Paris while Gwneth Paltrow rocked her look on one of her multiple covers for Elle Magazine.
So who wore it best? This is such a daring look that all three ladies get kudos for even attempting to make this work. Kate looks amazing at LV but since most pieces on the runway don’t even make it into production — mainly because they don’t translate into the real world, Fergie gets some extra points for wearing this look to a party. Sorry Gwyneth but unfortunately, retouched magazine covers don’t count as reality. Fergie is obviously very confident and comfortable with herself which are 2 very important qualities needed to carry off such a bold look. Her opaque tights and lace up boots also work perfectly with the overall edgy ensemble. Who do you think wore it best? Share your thoughts below…

Look of the Day – Rachel Bilson makes a chic transition into fall

Rachel Bilson shows off her sense of style in a white lace frock topped with a salmon colored jacket and sky-high Mary Jane pumps
Forget the rules of no white after labor day, packing up your shorts after the summer months and filling your wardrobe with black and gray for fall and winter. This season is the perfect time to recycle and transition some of your best summer pieces. Case in point, the stylish star of Hart of Dixie, Rachel Bilson, who paired an uber chic white lace dress (one of summer’s hottest pieces) with an equally chic and sharp salmon blazer. She completed her look with sky-high taupe Mary Jane pumps. Now who said breaking the fashion rules isn’t fun?
This week in color + trends
As we settle into the early days of fall, stars continue to show off and keep things interesting in bold and bright colors. Hot pink was hot this past week and so was red. It’s also clear that burnt orange and cobalt blue are here to say while white continues to rule even after the summer months. In the week’s trend report, bold prints were front and center on the carpet, ladies continued to be ladies in peplum skirts and tea length dresses and leather showed no sign of slowing down. Macy’s “Glamorama” brings an impressive night of Fashion & Entertainment to L.A
For the second year in a row, Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama took over The Orpheum Theatre in Downtown LA for an “ARTrageous” night. This year, it was all about the merging of fashion and entertainment to raise money and awareness for HIV/AIDS organizations. The night brought together the hottest designers, celebrities, models and entertainers for a night of glitz and glamour. From incredible runway looks from designers like Armani Jeans, Bar III, Calvin Klein, Karl Lagerfeld for Impulse, Papi, Rachel Rachel Roy, Tommy Hilfiger, Tracy Reese and more to unforgettable performances by Cee Lo and Far East Movement, the night definitely made a mark as one to remember. Closing out the night was an “artlandish” post-party at CalMart, also in Downtown LA.

The boys at Armani Jeans were fitted in military style looks, textured sweaters, schoolboy blazers and leather jackets - rugged masculinity all the way

The 70s girl was in complete control at Tracy Reese - pleated flowing skirts, faux fur paired with aviators, tiered looks, ruffles and sequins - who could say no?

The show took a few minutes to salute the late Elizabeth Taylor and honor her for all her charitable contributions to AIDS and HIV causes

Sharon Stone took the stage with Elizabeth Taylor's grandsons to honor the late Actress and Philanthropist

Plaid, faux leather, boucle textures and faux fur were hot for the impulse collection - 1920s Parisian chic meets 70s party girl
Take a front row seat and experience the Glamorama magic…
This year’s event once again benefited AIDS Project Los Angeles and Project Angel Food.

Look of the day – Charlize Theron is 70s chic with a modern twist
The tall drink of water that is Charlize Theron recently pulled off a very tricky look at the GQ Men of the Year Awards. Pairing her high waisted, heather gray pants with a low-cut silk blouse, she was ladylike and edgy at the same time. She really plays up her height with this look and since the pants are so dramatic, she balances them out with a very simple top in a light color. With flawless makeup and a slight pompadour to add to her edge, the actress steals the spotlight in this look.
What do you think of Charlize’s look? Hit or Miss?
