When Hollywood Meets Politics – 2013 Inauguration Weekend Fashion
President Obama’s family looks on as he is sworn into office by Chief Justice John G. Roberts
This weekend, Hollywood joined forces with the political powers that be to celebrate President Obama being sworn into office for a second term. Stars like Eva Longoria, Kerry Washington, Katy Perry, Rosario Dawson, Beyoncé and Jay-Z descended upon Washington D.C to show their support for the President. At the historic event, all eyes were of course on the stylish first family and Hollywood guests. FLOTUS Michelle who debuted a new set of bangs over the past week, sported an incredibly chic Thom Browne coat and accessorized with Reed Krakoff boots and a jeweled belt and gloves from J. Crew. Her earrings were designed by Cathy Waterman. Malia, 14, wore a plum coat by favorite J.Crew while little sister Sasha, 11, looked lovely in Kate Spade. Here’s a look at all the stylish looks from this past weekend’s Inauguration festivities.

Fergie shined on New Year’s Eve in a gold mini and edgy top knot
This past week, we said goodbye to 2012 and a fashionable hello to 2013. Stars like Fergie were in full party mode and opted for the pre-requisite metal and shine while others like Zoe Saldana went a little more demure in darker tones like olive green. With the new year came a pop of color. Kerry Washington stepped out of the box in a multi color and multi print Peter Pilotto number while Helen Mirren sizzled in a red Escada number in Palm Springs. Tangerine is out and Emerald Green is in. It’s official, Pantone has announced the regal color that is Emerald Green as the official color of 2013. This shocking, rich hue is right in line with the gorgeous colors shown on this past year’s runways. Interestingly enough, this particular shade of green has been burning up the red carpets as well as the runways for quite some time now, so it makes sense that it’s coming to the forefront of fashion in the upcoming year. It’s a color that transcends trends and seasons. It can go from a structured sheath to a ball gown and back to skinny jeans. As the holiday as well as the awards seasons are about to get into full swing, we’re starting to see a re-emergence of glitz and glamour on the red carpet. Olivia Palermo put her best foot forward in a very intricate design at a Valentino event, while Girls’ actress Allison Williams and Katy Perry stunned in Naeem Khan at a UNICEF event. Other stand out looks include Victoria Beckham in a red box suit from her label and Taylor Swift in Elie Saab. In color trends, navy blue was the color du jour on the carpet. This past week was all about prints, metallic hues and a few different shades of red. Some stand out looks in the print department include Kerry Washington in a ladylike Monique Lhuillier number, Kristen Stewart in a fresh-off-the -runway Louis Vuitton checkered piece as well as a few lessons in mixing (Olivia Palermo ) and matching (Karolina Kurkova in Roberto Cavalli and Jaime King in Giambattista Valli) prints.
