Get Selena Gomez’s winning Golden Globes Look
When it came to red carpet style at the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards, it was all about being soft, feminine and delicate. Blush, pink and nude colors ruled the carpet and the same can be said for the beauty trends. One stand out Star was Disney darling, Selena Gomez whose look was created by celebrity make-up artist, Karan Mitchell. Inspired by Gomez’s beautiful Catherine Deane coral colored gown with golden chain accents, Mitchell relied exclusively on Anastasia Beverly Hills products to achieve an ultra feminine, fun and flirty look. The result was flawless. Here’s a breakdown of what went into creating Selena’s look. All Anastasia Beverly Hills products are available at Sephora, Nordstrom, ULTA & Anastasia.net.
CREATING SELENA’S SHOW STOPPING EYES & LASHES
For the base of the lid, Mitchell used the first two shades from the ILLUMIN8 with YOUTHFUL SYNERGY™ COMPLEX EYE SHADOW PALETTE #1 ($40), blending on the eyelid as well as from the crease to the brow as a highlight.
Then she blended the soft plum accent shade 4 from ILLUMIN8 with YOUTHFUL SYNERGY™ COMPLEX EYE SHADOW PALETTE #1 on the crease as well as blending up and outward all the way to the eyebrow on the outer edges.
Next, Mitchell wet the deep onyx shade from ILLUMIN8 with YOUTHFUL SYNERGY™ COMPLEX EYE SHADOW PALETTE #2 and used it as a liquid liner on the top lashes.
Treat your eyelashes as you do your hair. You want to round-brush Lash Lifting Mascara ($22) into the root of your upper and lower lashes for definition.
CREATING SELENA’S FIERCE BROWS
To define brows begin with sketching in Brow Wiz (Selena used Medium Ash) over brows using light upward strokes, filling in brows completely, as if you were drawing little hairs.
Then use the wand brush on the other end of Brow Wiz ($20) to blend the brow color through. This will soften the product and create a natural effect.
To highlight the brow bone apply Brow Duality ($23) (Selena used Camille/ Sand) highlighter pencil on the brow bone starting above the iris to the end of the brow and blend using the fingertip.
To ensure longevity brush Clear Brow Gel ($21) in short upward strokes, being sure to apply in the same direction of hair growth. This will lock it in!
GET SELENA’S GORGEOUS LIPS & CHEEKS
Using the amazing wand, swipe HydraFull Gloss ($21) across the lips.
Using your ring finger gently tap the crème cheek color from the Highlighting Crème Duo ($35) (Selena used St Tropez) to apples of cheeks, blending to hairline.
For a sexy glow and highlighted cheekbones apply a small amount of the liquid highlighter along the cheekbones and blend on to your shoulders too!
Golden Globes 2011 Red Carpet Breakdown : The good, the bad and the unimpressive
Nudes, pastels, sequins and emerald green ruled the red carpet at Sunday’s 2011 Golden Globe Awards. While some Stars shone, other heavy hitters like Halle Berry, Julianne Moore and Nicole Kidman didn’t fare so well. Here’s the low down on the good, the bad and unfortunately, the not so impressive…
Nudes…
Matching your skin tone has been one of the biggest trends of the season and the carpet was swarming with gowns featuring this trend. Everyone from Scarlett Johannson to Sandra Bullock, Glee’s Diana Argon and Michelle Williams took a bite out of the “nude” apple.

Scarlett Johansson channeled old hollywood glamour in a flutter sleeved Elie Saab with floral appliqué.

Sandra Bullock showed off an edgier look with her blunt bangs but softened things up in an embellished Jenny Packham dress.
Not so impressive in this hue…

Nominated for her movie Blue Valentine, Michelle Williams tried to match her 60s hair cut in this Valentino gown with floral embellishments. Unfortunately, it was just a bit underwhelming for this event.
Sequins…
A-list Stars took a cue from the disco era trend taking over the runways and glittered on the carpet.
Unfortunately, even sequins couldn’t save these Stars…

Nicole Kidman failed to impress in this one shouldered, belted Prada gown, accessorized with a brooch.
Green with envy…
Emerald green was the color of goddesses on the carpet.

Elizabeth Moss also dipped her toe in the night's hottest hue but this ill-fitting Donna Karan frock did the talented actress zero justice.
Bringing more color to the stylish carpet were some super stylish ladies…

January Jones recovered from last year's Versace Emmy bomb with another Versace (fringed), retro curls and matching lips.

Red head du jour Christina Hendricks matched her hair and showed off her killer curves in a one shoulder, body hugging Romona Kaveza.

A pleasant surprise on the carpet was The Closer's Kyra Sedgwick who stood out in a bold, marigold Emilio Pucci.
On a lighter note…
Nominees Claire Danes and Emma Stone both went the minimalist route in pastel colored Calvin Klein numbers. Megan Fox, Lea Michele and Best Actress Nominee, Natalie Portman also went the light pink route.

Claire Danes who won the Best Actress statue for her HBO movie "Temple Grandin" looked elegant in her custom Calvin Klein gown.

While Glee's Lea Michele donned another Oscar de la Renta - It would be nice to see her switch it up a little bit from her usual taffeta choices.
Two ladies who failed to impress in Pink, Best Supporting Actress nominee Julianne Moore and Best Actress Nominee, Natalie Portman.

While Natalie Portman's Victor + Rolf gown did nothing for the expectant mom. There's no excuse for that flower plus there are so many amazing designers that have beautifully outfitted pregnant Stars...Sarah Jessica Parker in Narciso Rodriguez anyone?

Pregnancy flashback: Sarah Jessica Parker looked beautiful and stylish at 7 months in 2002 wearing a gorgeous pink, Narciso Rodriguez babydoll dress.
It wouldn’t be the Globes without the prerequisite black…

Piper Parabo could have done better than this boring black dress with a shoulder bow, which just seemed oddly sized and placed. As Charlize Theron showed us in her John Galliano for Dior number in 2006, either go big or go home.
Another hot mess…

Halle Berry who's usually flawless, bombed in this black corseted Nina Ricci gown. It was a bad mixture of a cliché undergarment / nightgown with a weirdly cut sheer train.
On to the Oscars….

The 2010 Emmy Awards Red Carpet Fashion Breakdown
Check out the biggest trends from last night’s red carpet. Here’s a breakdown of the big night’s biggest Stars and the Couture that made them shine…Scroll down for who wore what…what worked and what was not so great…
Let’s go Greek…
They came in white, conquered with embellishments and overall they were stunning. Damages’ Rose Byrne, Star of Dexter and No Ordinary Family’s Julie Benz, Glee’s Amber Riley and True Blood’s Anna Paquin all gave a history lesson in Grecian inspired gowns.

No Ordinary Family's Julie Benz looks anything but ordinary in this one shoulder Pamela Rowland gown.
So who wore it best? It’s a tie between Anna Paquin’s edgy McQueen and Rose Byrne’s simple but elegant white dress.
Blue is the new Black…
There’s a new color in town and it is absolutely taking over. Navy Blue provides an alternative to all the “black loving” fashionistas out there. The designers are dishing it out and from all the navy blue looks on last night’s red carpet, the celebrities are eating it right up. Ladies like Glee’s Lea Michele & Jayma Mays, Top Chef’s Padma Lakshmi and 30 Rock’s Jane Krakowski were all singing the blues and looked incredible doing it.
Who takes the crown in the Navy Blue Round? The surprise winner is 30 Rock’s Jane Krakowski in a one shoulder Escada. It is pure elegance at it’s peak.
Not so hot in blue was Mad Men’s January Jones. We’ll be the first to say kudos to Ms. Jones for never being afraid to take a fashion risk but even she herself looks displeased with this red carpet choice by Versace. The cobalt blue is an electrifying color but this is a bad case of the dress wearing you. We can’t wait to see her back in something that works better on her with an edge!
You can always go “Black”…
Navy Blue was huge but the go to color for award shows was still very much present. Desperate Housewives’ Eva Longoria Parker stuck to the basics in a textured Robert Rodriguez gown while Project Runway’s Heidi Klum showed off her famous legs in a Marshesa mini.
Not so hot in Black was The Office’s Mindy Kaling. Unfortunately, this looked like a bad prom dress. There’s a right way to do taffeta and tulle and this wasn’t it. The hair didn’t help either.
A Pop of Color…
It’s always great to see shocking colors on the red carpet. It is a sure fire way to stand out and that’s exactly what Bones’ Emily Deschanel did.
Hello Sparkles…
Thanks to a trip back to the 80s this season, sequins were huge last night on the red carpet. Stars like Claire Danes, Glee’s Heather Morris, Friday Night Lights’ Connie Britton and Dexter’s Jennifer Carpenter were electrifying in their sequined looks.
And the winner is…Jennifer Carpenter absolutely takes the cake on this one. The one shoulder look is stylish and the gun metal gray sequins elevate her look.
It’s raining Lace…
The biggest trend of the night was lace. It came in so many forms and styles with each Star making this trend her own. From Jewel, who surprised in Zuhair Murad to The Office’s Angela Kinsey who also looked elegant in Romona Keveza, this trend which has been around for a while has never been more prominent.
So who wore it best? The winner in this category is Jewel. Her Zuhair Murad dress is soft and feminine. The nude lace works well with her bronzed skin tone. The dress would probably look even more elegant without the bow but overall, it’s a look that works.
Best Dressed Boys…
Not to forget about the men, we’re splitting the award for best dressed between two very handsome men who brought the old school and the new school.
until next year folks…
