The Costume Institute Gala was the event du jour last night with stars from the music and acting realms colliding with the elite of the fashion world. Beyonce, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Scarlett Johansson and other Hollywood heavy hitters took over the famous carpeted stairs of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. With tickets reportedly costing $25,000 per individual, the event often deemed as the “Oscars of the fashion world”, provided no shortage of Haute Couture at it’s best and worst. Here’s a breakdown of the night’s best and worst looks by fashion house.

Givenchy ruled the night with Beyonce kicking things off in a very sheer and feathered number

Rooney Mara also went sheer in an edgy Givenchy Couture gown

The face of Givenchy, Liv Tyler in a Couture gown by the fashion house

Gisele in a beaded Givenchy gown with front slit

Alicia Keys went for a pant suit in the sea of dresses--sporting Givenchy Couture

Unfortunately, not all Givenchy is created equal. Model, Coco Rocha bombed in this Couture number with matching pink hair

The exhibit featured Miuccia Prada’s designs from the late 1980s to the present, which meant a lot of Prada frocks on the carpet.

The event's co-host, Carey Mulligan shined in a gold and silver paillete Prada halter dress

Diane Kruger in a feathered violet Prada gown

Kate Bosworth in a fringed and feathered Prada mini

Gwyneth Paltrow went short in a metallic Prada mini

Funny lady, Kristen Wiig also opted for Stella McCartney
